Adding an Egress Window to your Finished Basement
We are always excited to add an egress window as part of a basement finish. Possibly the biggest transformation you can make to start off the project. Adding additional light and providing safe exit will make your lower level feel like the rest of the house.
In the pictures below you will notice two major changes that we have made in the framing stage of this basement finish. The steps have been opened up to make the basement feel like an extension of the rest of the house. We have also added an egress window this overland park basement remodel. An egress window not only provides a safe exit in case of emergency, it also provides much needed natural light into a basement.
We also insist on using lots of recessed or can lights in a basement finish. We also incorporate dimmer switches on all of our projects. This will give you complete control of your basement lighting.

What exactly is an egress window? I'm not quite sure if I've seen them or not, but I've heard about them all throughout Minneapolis. What are they?
